Buffalo Bill's Wild West Prayer Trip

Somebody asked me, "What my fascination is with Buffalo Bill?" They were speaking to me in regards to this quest that I call the "Buffalo Bill Wild West Prayer Trip". I had to tell them that I didn't know what the answer is to that question. Because my fascination was not with the man who was known as Buffalo Bill, instead I was bound to my own greater spiritual quest that these journeys are part of.

During my journey to Tibet in October 2000, I had this powerful spiritual experience while playing my guitar in the holy places of that barren mountain country. I felt like the mountains there told me to return to America and find the spiritual power of the Medicine Wheel and my heritage from the American frontier. Once I have done this I will return to Tibet and ask what I should do next. I had this vague idea that was communicated to me by rocks in Tibet, but I didn't know how to go about reconnecting to my power that lay somewhere in the ghost towns and abandoned Indian villages of the western regions of America.

So it was I decided to create a plan to perform a series of prayer ceremonies, and then I started feeling like I was getting signals from a female spirit. I soon became aware that this spirit was Helen Cody Wetmore, the sister of William F. Cody alias Buffalo Bill. Her spirit lead me to a biography she wrote about her brother's life titled, "Last of the Great Scouts." I read the book twice in one week's time and then the whole idea of my "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Prayer Trip" just popped into my head, and I knew I was going. Once I got the theme in my head it was easy to map out a route that followed the life and adventures of Buffalo Bill and his friends. Now the project has evolved into a series of trips and journeys to bring me closer to the old West.

The first stop was at Buffalo Bill's Grave on Lookout Mountain outside Denver, Colorado. I went there and read from the Bible and the Tibetan Book of the Dead. I meditated, prayed, and performed my ceremonies. Mostly I just did what came to me at the time, because I was just grasping for straws at this point.
